Role Purpose
The Information Manager will lead the strategic and operational management of digital information across a £1bn new hospital construction programme. The role is responsible for ensuring that Building Information Modelling (BIM), asset data, and information management processes fully support construction delivery and handover to the NHS Trust for operational use.
The postholder will own the implementation of ISO information management standards, lead asset tagging and data assurance activities, and ensure that high‑quality, validated information is delivered into CAFM, EAM, and FM systems at takeover.
Key Responsibilities
Information Management & BIM Leadership
Act as the Information Manager, establishing and governing project information management processes.
Lead the development, maintenance, and assurance of federated BIM models (typically Revit‑based) across all design and construction stages.
Define and manage the Common Data Environment (CDE), ensuring controlled, auditable workflows for information exchange.
Oversee information delivery milestones aligned to RIBA Stages and construction phase requirements.
Ensure BIM outputs meet Employer’s Information Requirements (EIRs) and NHS standards.
Asset Tagging & Data Strategy
Lead the asset tagging strategy across all building, MEP, and specialist systems.
Define Asset Information Requirements (AIRs) and data schemas aligned with NHS Estate Information standards.
Ensure assets are correctly modelled, tagged, classified, and populated with the correct non‑graphical data.
Coordinate barcode / RFID asset tagging implementation during construction and commissioning.
Validate asset data for readiness for handover into CAFM, IWMS, or EAM systems.
Data Quality & Assurance
Establish robust information validation and verification processes, including model audits and data quality checks.
Lead clash detection reviews and data compliance reporting.
Ensure information security, version control, and compliance with project data governance requirements.
Manage legacy data integration where refurbishments or retained assets are involved.
Stakeholder & Supply Chain Management
Act as the primary digital interface between client, designers, contractors, specialist suppliers, and FM teams.
Provide clear guidance, training, and support to the supply chain on BIM, asset data, and information standards.
Challenge and support suppliers to ensure consistent, high‑quality information delivery.
Handover & Operational Readiness
Lead the soft landings information handover process.
Ensure that BIM and asset information fully supports commissioning, validation, and operational readiness.
Work closely with clinical planning, estates, and FM stakeholders to ensure information supports live hospital operations.
Support transition to “as‑maintained” and “as‑operated” information models.
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
Proven experience as an Information Manager, BIM Manager, or Digital Lead on large‑scale construction projects (£250m+).
Strong working knowledge of ISO information management standards.
Hands‑on experience managing BIM models across multiple disciplines.
Demonstrable experience delivering asset tagging and structured asset data for FM handover.
Experience working within healthcare, infrastructure, or other highly regulated environments.
Strong understanding of CDE platforms (e.g. Autodesk Construction Cloud, ProjectWise, Viewpoint).
Ability to translate complex digital requirements into practical site‑ready processes.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Desirable
Experience working on hospital or NHS capital projects.
Knowledge of NHS data standards.
Experience integrating BIM and asset data
Understanding of Government Soft Landings (GSL) or Soft Landings principles.
Experience supporting commissioning and operational readiness phases.
